Structure of the GCSE Paper - TV Section

Structure and Outline
Paper one will be TV and Promoting Media (70 marks 35%)
Paper two will be Music and News (70 marks 35%)
= 140 marks
The remaining 30% comes from coursework.











Paper 1 Section A: TV
Q1: This will be worth 5 marks = 2 points.
This will be an analysis question. You must analyse one element of media language from the extract.

Q2: This will be worth 10 marks = 3 points.
7 marks for analysis, 3 marks for judgements.
This will be an analysis and judgement question. You must analyse and make judgements to one or more areas based on media language and representation. You may wish to refer to contexts. Judgements will be made throughout.
You must write a short sentence or two at the end which sums up judgement(s).

Q3: This will be worth 15 marks = 4 points (or 3 very well developed)
10 marks for analysis, 5 marks for judgements.
This is an extended response and it will focus on media language and representation (but it also might only be one of these areas!).
In this question you must reference all of LARI C and make judgements throughout. You MUST write a concise conclusion which draws in your overall judgements.


Q4: This will be worth 5 marks = 2 points.
It will be a TV industry focused question and is there to test your knowledge and understanding - PSB, BBS, Technology, Regulation, Diverse audiences, etc.

Q5: This will be worth 10 marks = 3 points.
This question will always be about the influence of media contexts. It will ask about either social, cultural or historical contexts and you must refer it to the television drama that they have provided.

- Rise in feminism/female equality.
